We need more transparency and oversight in the issuance of government contracts which some estimate cost us over $2 billion per year in excessive costs and fraud. To cite but one example, The Auditor General's office recently uncovered a no-bid contract that had resulted over-payments of $210 million; and missing paperwork suggested the actual cost to taxpayers might be much higher than that.
